We're here!

We made it ... finally! After 30 hours of flying, we arrived in Entebbe, Uganda last night and checked into our hostel, Entebbe Backpackers. It's a nice place, clean but sparse, and has a mosquito net and a fan, so what more could you ask for, really? The flight over here was pretty uneventful, but definitely long and I was ready to get off the plane after the third leg of 8 hours! We were greeted at the airport by Shalom, who works at the hotel, and he drove us to our place. After a nice long sleep, we got up this morning, got organized, had breakfast and headed out. We walked a few kilometers through town to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center to check out the animals. It had to have been field trip day for every school in the area because there were hundreds of kids all dressed alike in their uniforms and skipping around looking at the animals. We saw zebras, lions, rhinos, ostriches, warthogs, giraffes, and other animals. And TONS of spiders.

omg. The bugs. They are everywhere. I have swallowed at least 34 bugs and probably had another 17 fly up my nose. And my Mom was worried about me not getting enough protein. I think I could survive off of eaten bugs alone. :) It's very hot and very buggy, but the weather is beautiful and sunny. Entebbe is on the shores of Lake Victoria, which is a huge lake with a nice beach. We've encountered only friendly people and are excited for the rest of the trip! Tomorrow we start a small tour up to Murchison Falls, northwest of here. More updates to come later!
